Born in Vollore on June 27, 1876, Marie-Louise Dumas, daughter of Arthur and Marie de Brives, died on February 10, 1953. She married Gilbert de Pusy La Fayette in Vollore on July 17, 1900. Gilbert was the great-grandson of Georges-Washington de La Fayette, the only son of General Marquis de La Fayette. Gilbert and Marie-Louise de Pusy La Fayette's eldest son, Jean, born on April 17, 1903, died for France on February 7, 1945. He had married Ghislaine, daughter of Count André de Montalivet and his wife Odette de Rochambeau, on September 1, 1942. Authentic period furniture from 1900 in the Louis XVI style, which has remained in this apartment since its original decoration in 1900, was overseen by the architect René Moreau. The bed, wardrobe, bedside table, and chairs are signed “Mercier.” Armchairs, a console table, and bronzes are in the Louis XVI style. In the boudoir, furniture is signed “Birch,” “Gallé,” “Majorel,” and “Le Fur.” A portrait of Marie-Louise Dumas from 1900 and the painting “Passerelle aux Tuilleries” by Louise Abema complete the furnishings.
