Located in southern Burgundy, in the far south of the Saône-et-Loire department, in the heart of the Charolais-Brionnais region, the Château de Drée is a must-see destination for history and heritage enthusiasts. This princely residence from the Age of Enlightenment, magnificently furnished, invites you to discover its refined architecture and French-style gardens, while offering a journey back in time through its sumptuous rooms.
The château opens its doors to you, showcasing some twenty historic rooms , including the King's bedroom, the Louis XV drawing room, the Louis XVI drawing room, as well as master bedrooms and the chapel. Each room is meticulously decorated with 18th-century furniture and objets d'art, allowing you to relive the elegance and luxury of the era.
The expert-led tours last between one and two hours and offer a complete immersion in the history of the castle and its inhabitants. You can also explore the 10-hectare park, which includes a rose garden , ponds , statues , as well as a topiary garden and boxwood parterre , providing an idyllic setting for a walk in nature.
The Château de Drée is a true gem of French heritage, where art and history meet harmoniously to offer an enriching cultural experience.
The formal French gardens, recreated in the late 1990s, cover 10 hectares. They comprise terraces with parterres of boxwood (25,000 shrubs), yew topiary, a rose garden with 1,300 rose bushes, and remarkable trees such as sequoias. The outbuildings (icehouse, kennels, stables, lamp room, stove room, and 19th-century bathroom) are also open to visitors. Since the early 2000s, the Drée garden has been listed as a Remarkable Garden.
Open to visitors from April 2nd to November 3rd, 2025: - From April 2nd to May 31st, 2025: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. - From June 1st to August 31st, 2025: 10:30 AM to 6:30 PM, daily. - From September 1st to October 31st, 2025: 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
Guided tours: In April, May, September and October: guided tours at 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. From June to August: guided tours at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
