Drée Castle

In southern Burgundy, at the southernmost tip of the Saône-et-Loire department, in the heart of the Charolais-Brionnais region, a visit to the Château de Drée is a wonderful idea. Magnificently furnished and surrounded by formal French gardens, this princely residence from the Age of Enlightenment offers some twenty rooms, including the King's bedchamber, the Louis XV drawing room, the Louis XVI drawing room, the master bedrooms, and the chapel. All these rooms are carefully enhanced by numerous 18th-century pieces of furniture and objets d'art. Guided tours are available, lasting one or two hours. The gardens, set within a 10-hectare park, also include a rose garden, ponds, statues, a topiary garden, and boxwood parterres.
