Priory of Sainte-Gauburge - Perche Ecomuseum
The priory of Sainte Gauburge is the origin of a remarkably well-preserved hamlet whose houses are clustered around this 13th, 15th, and 18th-century building.
This ensemble is included in the guided tour: the church with its sculpted decoration, the prior's residence with its historiated fireplaces, the stair tower adorned with sculptures, the vaulted rooms of the monks' quarters, the heritage orchard, and a visit to the farmyard and its traditional vegetable garden.
The ecomuseum, located within the remarkable setting of the former priory, is dedicated to transmitting and preserving the geographical, historical, and ethnological heritage of the Perche region.
The Museum of Folk Arts and Traditions presents an ethnographic overview of the Perche territory.
In addition, temporary exhibitions, activities, workshops, and lectures enliven the ecomuseum throughout the year. Open every day except Tuesday, from 2 pm to 6 pm. Closed December 24, 25, and 31, and January 1.
Guided tours of the Priory are available on weekends, public holidays, and school holidays from 2 pm to 6 pm (group tours by reservation in the morning).
Regional products, handcrafted goods, postcards, and books are available for purchase.
