Royal Military College of Thiron-Gardais, Museum - Cultural Visits
An educational and engaging museum. Passionate about this place and its history, Stéphane Bern has assembled documents and objects that tell its story. This museum is a living, evolving project . A historic garden: Initially a place of culture and meditation for monks in the 12th century, the garden became a place of study for students of the Collège de Tiron in the 17th century. After the French Revolution, when the site became private property, the garden was replanted as a promenade for the owners. To preserve the spirit of the Royal and Military College garden during the restoration work, no one was better suited than the renowned French landscape architect Louis Benech. He replanted more than 1,600 species of flowers and trees, while maintaining the original perspectives and balance. Opening Hours & Admission: 2025 Season Opening: The museum and garden will be open to visitors from Tuesday, July 1st at 2 pm until Sunday, August 31st at 7 pm. Other days: 10am-1pm and 2pm-7pm
Closed on Monday and Tuesday mornings
Adult: €8. Reduced: €5 (children aged 12-18, students, apprentices, job seekers, people with reduced mobility, press card holders, partners, groups of more than 20 people). Children aged 7-11: €2. Children under 7: free
