The monument remarkably preserves its square Romanesque keep (from the 10th and 11th centuries) which is 22 meters high.
At the front, the two round defensive towers still have their arrow slits. In front of them stands a building constructed in 1780 to house cells. All of these buildings together make up the castle tour.

Ranrouët Castle
In the shade of centuries-old oak trees, the imposing silhouette of the ruins of Ranrouët Castle is revealed.
Located in a unique and unusual setting, this sentinel of the marshes is unlike any other hilltop site. Built starting in the 13th century, it was constantly modified until the 17th century. Successive owners—the Assérac, Rochefort, and Rieux families—adapted it to the needs of their time. Both a fortress and a residence, Ranrouët Castle is also an essential witness to the history of Brittany.
