Artistic Hub
For over 35 years, the Château de Vascoeuil has been a must-see for art enthusiasts. Each year, it hosts renowned painters and sculptors, whose works are displayed across three floors of the château, in the dovecote, and in the gallery. A unique opportunity to discover diverse works in a historic setting.

In 2025: visit to the Château and the 2025 exhibition "The Visionaries: Landscape Painters of the Soul" (Jules Michelet Museum + Château + Dovecote + Modern Sculpture Park + French and English Gardens). Also included is the 2025 exhibition "The Visionaries," presented at the Château, the dovecote, and the gallery. The exhibition features works by Jean Paul Landais (1950-2021), Yves Thomas (1937), Alain Margotton (1948), Gérard Di-Maccio (1938), Klaus Dietrich (1940-2002), and Hervé Serane (1952). A portion of the important collection of Hervé Serane—a photographer and artist—who introduced these visionary painters (1980s) to his Galerie RÂ in Paris (1977-1996), will be on display. Visionary Art is a traditional artistic movement, present in certain... Countries like Austria, Eastern Europe, and Northern Europe. This movement re-emerged in France in the late 1970s when Hervé Sérane presented artists of this style for the first time at art fairs in London, Stockholm, and Hong Kong. It was in Japan that the movement achieved considerable success, with museums in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Kobe, Fukuoka, and Onomichi attracting some 350,000 visitors. Both mystical and spiritual, the works created (paintings, works on paper, photographs) are linked by common elements: expressing the soul, the invisible and imaginary worlds with a skillful hand. A work is considered visionary if it possesses breath, spirituality, and timelessness, all of which must be complemented by remarkable technical virtuosity. The visionary artist transposes into their works the mental images they obtain by stimulating their waking dreams. The resurgence of this artistic movement of Visionary Art took place, especially in France, in the 1970s before losing almost all visibility in the early 1990s. This landmark exhibition testifies to an extraordinary adventure with an exceptionally representative collection, bringing together around one hundred works at the Château de Vasceuil.

Botanical Center
The château's formal French garden, designed in 1774 and recently restored, is bisected by the Crevon, a stream that adds a bucolic touch to the landscape. The 5-hectare park invites leisurely strolls, offering the chance to discover magnificent trees, including a centuries-old oak. A perfect setting for relaxation and enjoying nature.

Literary Hub
Vascoeuil Castle is also a place steeped in literary history. Jules Michelet, the celebrated 19th-century French historian, had his study at the top of the castle tower. His study has been faithfully reconstructed, and his work is celebrated at the Musée Michelet, the only museum in France dedicated to this historian.
