During your visit, discover the permanent exhibitions and treasures of the castle:

  • Painting exhibition : Admire the works of Jean Chaintrier, contemporary painter, exhibited in the gallery.
  • History of the castle : Immerse yourself in the history of this imposing building with a 15-minute video, retracing its architecture and key events.
  • Exhibition of antique locks : Explore a fascinating collection of lock designs from the 17th and 18th centuries.
  • Marquis d'Argenson's Herbarium : Discover a herbarium composed of dried plants from the 19th century, meticulously collected by the Marquis d'Argenson.

The Château des Ormes also houses superb rooms, such as the grand staircase , the large kitchen in the Pussort wing , and the icehouse , which testify to the elegance and historical character of the place.

Prices and visiting days:

  • Summer period (June 1st to September 3rd) :
    Open every day except Tuesday, from 2pm to 6pm
    The ticket office is located at 28, rue Pierre d'Argenson, 100 meters from the Ormes church.

  • Off-season :
    Welcoming groups requires mandatory reservation (groups of 10 people or more).
    A snack can be provided upon request.

<p>The <strong>Château des Ormes</strong> , a true <strong>architectural gem</strong> , was built in <strong>1642</strong> by the <strong>Pussort brothers</strong> , uncles of the future minister Colbert. It was later <strong>enlarged in 1729</strong> by the <strong>Comte d'Argenson</strong> , then Minister of War under <strong>Louis XV</strong> .</p><p> An emblematic site of the <strong>Age of Enlightenment</strong> , the château became a <strong>major intellectual center</strong> and a <strong>cradle of the Encyclopedists</strong> . Among its prestigious guests was <strong>Voltaire</strong> , who stayed there, marking the history of the estate with a philosophical brilliance.</p><p> A place of elegance and memory, at the heart of French heritage.</p>
