Our history

The Château des Ormes , a true architectural gem , was built in 1642 by the Pussort brothers , uncles of the future minister Colbert. It was later enlarged in 1729 by the Comte d'Argenson , then Minister of War under Louis XV .

An emblematic site of the Age of Enlightenment , the château became a major intellectual center and a cradle of the Encyclopedists . Among its prestigious guests was Voltaire , who stayed there, marking the history of the estate with a philosophical brilliance.
