Craon Castle

Craon Castle

CRAON , Pays de la Loire

Craon Castle is not a monument like any other. It is not admired from afar behind velvet ropes—it is experienced, breathed in, and shared. For nearly two centuries, the same family has watched over its stones, its gardens, and its soul. It is this rare and precious continuity that makes Craon a truly unique place in the Mayenne region.

Built between 1773 and 1779 in the purest French classical style, Craon Castle rises gracefully in the heart of the Haut-Anjou. Its understated and balanced architecture, its luminous facades, and its formal French gardens make it one of the finest examples of 18th-century classicism in western France. From its very beginning, Craon was conceived as a family home—a place designed to be lived in, loved, and passed down.

Where other castles have changed hands, been sold, transformed, or abandoned, Craon has endured through the centuries with the same family as its guardian. Each generation has contributed to the estate, meticulously maintaining the grounds, perpetuating traditions, and breathing new life into this exceptional heritage. Even today, the château remains a lived-in home, animated by the same family passion that brought it into being.

When you pass through the gates of Craon Castle, you are not entering a museum. For the duration of your visit, you become guests of a family for whom passing on their heritage and sharing their deepest values. Let yourself be carried away by the history of these stones, these gardens, and the men and women who have made Craon what it is today: a vibrant, welcoming, and unforgettable place.

Welcome to our home.
