Our history
Magrin Castle (a listed historical monument) houses the only pastel museum in France , dedicated to this plant that supplied blue dye to all of Europe in the 16th century. A remarkable monument dating from the 12th, 16th, and 18th centuries, situated at an altitude of 330 meters, it served as a refuge for the future Henry IV in 1585. The museum, spread over four levels, boasts two extremely rare exhibits: an authentic woad-drying shed and a superb pastel mill. In the courtyards, you'll find woad and indigo plants, local curiosities, and practical applications of blue dyeing and painting. Guided tours, lectures, and a DVD film are available in the summer. A fascinating visit to the " Land of Plenty " awaits!
