Anjony Castle

Built by Louis d'Anjony, a companion of Joan of Arc tasked by King Charles VII with protecting the surrounding area, the Anjony keep still stands, intact and proud, a prime example of the small mountain fortresses of the 15th century. Its history was tumultuous in the 15th and 16th centuries, as a veritable vendetta pitted the d'Anjony family against the Tournemire family, their close neighbors and rivals. In the 18th century, a more welcoming and contemporary residential wing was added to the austere medieval structure. The rich interiors are decorated with remarkable 16th-century frescoes and furnishings from various periods in the castle's history.

The residence has been inhabited by the same family since its construction.
