The Ardouin Museum immerses you in local history with living reconstructions, including the museum of barbarians, a dyer's workshop that will bring back to life the artisanal techniques of yesteryear and remains of the Boulbonne Abbey, necropolis of the Counts of Foix .

You will also discover life in Mazères in the mid-20th century, offering an authentic glimpse into that era.

The Ardouin Hotel and its beautifully preserved gardens also form an essential part of the visit, allowing you to discover the architecture and atmosphere of that era.

The hotel's cellars complete this immersion in the past, offering a unique atmosphere to understand local history from a different perspective.

The Ardouin Museum , situated in a historic setting, invites you to discover a fascinating collection and explore local history through immersive exhibitions.

Opening hours and prices:

  • Period from October 1st to May 31st,
    Self-guided visits, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:00pm to 5:00pm, Saturday from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
  • Period from June 1st to September 30th ,
    Self-guided visits from Wednesday to Saturday: 10:00 to 12:00 / 15:00 to 18:00. Sunday and public holidays, 15:00 to 18:00.
  • Guided tours (groups and individuals) all year round by reservation.
  • Prices :
    Adults €5 / Young people (13-18 years) and Students (under 26 years) €3 / Children (up to 12 years) Free.
    Groups (10 people or more): Adults €3.50 / Children and Youth €1.50

Le musée du Vieux Mazères se trouve dans un <strong>hôtel pastelier : l'Hôtel d'Ardouin, bâtiment du XVIe siècle</strong>. Ce monument classé vient de bénéficier d'une restauration complète. Il est construit en briques avec de belles fenêtres à meneaux finement ouvragées.
Le pastel, cette plante tincturiale qui a fait la fortune du Lauragais, est évoquée lors de la visite. Dans les caves voutées, une pièce est réservée à l'histoire la plus ancienne de Mazères : du mobilier néolithique aux vestiges de la prestigieuse <strong>Abbaye de Boulbonne</strong> sans oublier la nécropole mérovingienne.

La visite se termine par une salle consacrée aux expositions temporaires.
