Longpra Castle
Located between Lyon, Grenoble, and Chambéry, the Château de Longpra, a listed historical monument dating from the 12th to the 18th centuries, has belonged to the same family since 1536. Countess Albert de Franclieu will be delighted to welcome you. The moat and the drawbridge that spans it bear witness to what the fortified house of Longpra was like in the Middle Ages: an austere and well-defended residence. Starting in 1755, Pierre-Antoine Pascalis de Longpra, a Councilor in the Parliament of Grenoble, had his house demolished and rebuilt in the 18th-century style. Utilizing the skills of the village's masons and carpenters, as well as the talents of Grenoble cabinetmakers, including Hache, he created a sumptuous aristocratic residence , which the genius of Italian painters further enhanced, and which remains intact today.
