Gerbéviller Castle
The romantic park of Gerbéviller Castle is one of the finest examples of its kind preserved in France.
Designed in 1816, it incorporates two 17th-century structures: a nymphaeum with a monumental staircase and an elegant brick and stone pleasure pavilion of great architectural interest. The visit continues through a vast garden divided into walled "rooms." It features a cucurbit garden, while a scented herb garden, a "satanic garden" (poison garden), and an ornamental kitchen garden follow one another. The creation of a garden in 1900 commemorates the year of the Nancy School.
Facing the castle gates, the visit concludes with the Palatine Chapel, built to welcome Pope Pius IX to Gerbéviller.
