Pray Castle
Near the historic town of Amboise, beauty, serenity, and tranquility converge in this characterful 13th-century residence. Discover a lifestyle steeped in authenticity and tradition.
Nestled in lush greenery, perched on a hillside with terraces overlooking the Loire River, the Château de Pray, named after Geoffroy de Pray in 1244, is truly remarkable. Flanked by towers that bear witness to its fortress past, it became a residence during the Renaissance, from which two superb dormer windows with stone mullions date. In 1631, it passed to the Artillery Commissioner of the Queen of England.
In the 18th century, it belonged to the Advisor to the Kings of Spain and France, and even to an officer close to Lafayette, whose portrait adorns the 19th-century fireplace decorated with earthenware tiles featuring mythological motifs. In the 20th century, Madame Alphonse Daudet lived here. It was one of the first châteaux to be transformed to offer you a lifestyle steeped in history.
The château's rooms, meticulously maintained and decorated, retain the château's original character. The superb 80 m² terrace overlooking the Loire River, the kitchen garden, and the wooded park offer a tranquil escape. The swimming pool invites you to unwind: secluded and nestled among the gardens and vegetable patch, it blends seamlessly into the landscape. The refined and gourmet cuisine of the fine-dining restaurant guarantees a truly memorable stay.
