Valençay Castle

Valençay

Beyond the beauty of its architecture and the splendor of its furnishings, the Château de Valençay is also famous for its history. For over thirty years, the château was owned by an illustrious figure who left his mark on 19th-century history: Charles Maurice de Talleyrand.

At the urging of Napoleon, he acquired the Valençay estate in 1803 to entertain foreign dignitaries. The château then enjoyed its golden age and, for nearly a quarter of a century, became the home of the renowned diplomat.

A symbol of imperial power, Valençay embodies refined taste and elegance with its marbles, paintings, objets d'art, and exceptional Empire furniture adorned with gilded bronzes.

From the state rooms to the private apartments, the collections at Valençay offer the most comprehensive tour of the Loire Valley châteaux.
