A Unique Architecture
Built in 1564 by the architect Philibert de l'Orme, the Château de Thoiry is a remarkable architectural work that respects the Golden Ratio.
The castle is designed to offer an exceptional spectacle during the solstices , creating a bridge of light through which the sun rises and sets.
The Interiors of the Castle
The castle's salons and bedrooms are adorned with exquisite furniture, objets d'art, and tapestries that have retained their original positions and functions. These elements bear witness to daily life at the time and contribute to the authentic atmosphere of the place.
The Music Room
Among the remarkable spaces in the castle, the music room offers a setting conducive to escape, elegantly decorated and steeped in history.
Prices and Practical Information
Open for self-guided visits. Outside of school holidays: Open Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2 pm to 6 pm. During school holidays: Open Wednesday to Sunday from 4 pm to 7 pm. Last entry half an hour before closing time. Audio guided tour: Thoiry Castle offers a premium self-guided tour. You will simply need your mobile phone to scan the QR codes. With zoo ticket : – Standard visit: Free – Audio guided tour: + €5 per person. You have access to the castle gardens and free entry to the castle for all zoo visitors upon presentation of a ticket dated the same day. Without zoo ticket, audio guided tour of the castle only: €10 per person. Visit the ground floor of a Renaissance gem and discover the richly furnished and decorated state rooms.
Information regarding the gardens: Access to the gardens is not included in the ticket. The gardens are open from June to August. The gardens can only be visited with zoo tickets ; access to the gardens is through the zoo .
Zoo + Castle Ticket :
Enjoy a complete experience including the castle, the maze, the historical, botanical and zoological gardens, as well as the African reserve.
