Description
The Château de Gaujacq became part of the Navailles family's possessions through the marriage of Géraude de Navailles to Arnaud II de Caupenne. The estate passed to his grandson, Archambaud de Caupenne , Chamberlain to Gaston Fébus, son of Raymond Guilhem de Caupenne and Isabeau de Borda, who in turn passed it on to his second son, Raymond Guilhem , known as Raymonet, one of the knights who brought Gaston Fébus back from Orion to Orthez on August 1, 1391. It has remained in the same family to this day. A 17th-century manor house, it was built by a Lieutenant General in the armies of King Louis XIV. Its architecture is original and unusual , organized around a garden of delights, surrounded by an Italian-style gallery . Discover the unspoiled harmony of the 17th and 18th century apartments, furnished and inhabited, decorated with wood paneling and painted panels. This castle is unique in Europe for its construction and location.
