Vausse Priory
Exceptional Chateaus & Castles
Our history
A priory belonging to the Cistercian order, founded in the late 12th century by Anseric VI of Montréal, located in the heart of the Châtel-Gérard state forest, which was dependent on the Val-des-Choues Abbey. It features a 13th-century Romanesque cloister and a 14th-century chapel, both remarkably simple in design. After 1789, it housed a pottery works, and later became the residence of the Burgundian historian Ernest Petit; today it remains a family property.
