Our history

Late 16th century: Alain de Poulpry, Lord of Lanvengat, Archdeacon of Léon, and Councilor to the Parliament of Brittany, had a residence built for his nephew, also named Alain, who would inherit his position as Councilor to the Parliament.

Of the original building, only the main building remains, with a slender corbelled turret and a magnificent Renaissance doorway, whose pediment bears the date 1584 (the woodwork is, of course, much later).

During the French Revolution, the château and its outbuildings were sold as national property. It passed through the hands of various owners, one of whom, at the beginning of the 19th century, undertook major renovations and demolished a large part of the old structure. Legend has it that a sudden movement, while he was dismantling the coping stones, sent him plummeting to his death... and the turret was saved!

The Château de Trébodennic is today owned by the Croc family, who have lived there since 1850.
