Our history

A magnificent 16th and 17th-century château, it belonged during the Wars of Religion to the family of Admiral de Coligny, to Particelli d'Hemery, Mazarin's superintendent of finances, and, since 1700, to the Marquis de Tanlay. Famous for its trompe-l'œil gallery and the frescoes in the League Tower , the Château de Tanlay offers an interior guided tour, showcasing its rich furnishings and wall decorations. The exterior tour reveals the château's outbuildings, its moat, the nymphaeum, its canal, and its remarkable park. Every summer, the château's outbuildings host internationally renowned contemporary art exhibitions.
