Saint-Point Castle - Lamartine Castle

The Château de Saint Point was the residence of Alphonse de Lamartine in 1820. The poet and his wife Mary Ann Birch extensively remodeled the château in the English Gothic Revival style, giving it a unique charm.

The estate is enhanced by a magnificent English-style park, offering a peaceful and harmonious setting.

Saint-Point, a 12th and 14th-century castle acquired in a state of disrepair in 1801 by the Chevalier de Pratz, father of Alphonse de Lamartine, became the poet's family home in 1820. Alphonse de Lamartine received the castle as an advance on his inheritance upon his marriage to an English aristocrat, Mary-Ann Birch.
