Pesteils Castle

Perched atop its steep rocky outcrop at an altitude of 750 meters, the ancient fortress of Polminhac proudly overlooks the Cère Valley. The imposing keep symbolizes the majesty of Pesteils Castle and evokes the Middle Ages in its most rugged form, a glorious testament to what this stronghold of the Cantal region must have been like. Beautiful 15th-century frescoes adorn the interior.
The 17th century enriched the main building with remarkable painted ceilings.
Tapestries, paintings, and furniture richly embellish this ensemble.
Enlarged and restored in the 19th century, the castle has been owned by the de Cassagne de Miramon Pesteils family since 1608, who still reside there today.
Twenty wax figures depict historical scenes from the Cantal region.

The castle and its grounds are listed as a historical monument.
