Our history
On the road to Spain, between Lourdes and the Basque coast, the castle stands at the crossroads of several tourist routes. This former residence of the Viscounts of Béarn was the birthplace of Henry IV in 1553.
Restored in the 19th century by King Louis-Philippe, the castle presents the public with a complete decorative ensemble and one of the richest collections of tapestries in France (Flemish, Gobelins, 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries).
