Ohlain Castle

Built around 1200 by Hugues d’Ohlain, Olhain Castle stands majestically in the heart of a pond, seemingly suspended above the flowing waters that still embrace it today. With its drawbridge, imposing keep, watchtower, and chapel, it is one of the most authentic and rare examples of a fortified castle on a plain, typical of northern Europe. Its bailey, also surrounded by water, completes this remarkably well-preserved defensive complex. The harmony between medieval architecture and the watery landscape gives Olhain a unique atmosphere, where history seems to flow to the peaceful rhythm of the water.
