Nouaillé-Maupertuis Abbey
Exceptional Chateaus & Castles
Our history
A former fortified abbey founded in the 7th century , this remarkable site still retains its ramparts and moat, testaments to its defensive role throughout the ages. The convent buildings , erected in the 12th and 17th centuries, as well as the abbot's residence from the late 15th century, illustrate the successive transformations of a place steeped in history, between spirituality and military strategy.
