Exceptional Chateaus & Castles

Our history

In the heart of the Catalan Pyrenees, between France and Spain , Cerdagne is a vast plateau encircled by mountains that rise to over 2,900 meters. The diversity of its natural and human-modified landscapes is matched by a wealth of protohistoric, Roman, medieval, and modern traces that have shaped the landscape. Around the Cerdagne Museum, a state-run museum of society in its early stages, a wide range of activities are offered, leading to the discovery of this unique territory, shaped by humankind for 6,000 years. The Cerdagne Museum, a multi-site museum of society in its early stages, has opened its branch dedicated to natural heritage in Eyne. This space, the Museum's first permanent facility, is housed in the former Cal Martinet farmhouse, at the entrance to the Eyne Nature Reserve, renowned for its botanical richness since the 17th century. This space, in addition to its educational mission, hosts an exhibition and the botanical garden developed in partnership with the Eyne Nature Reserve.
