Our history
It was in 1917 that the last direct descendant of the Beurnier family bequeathed this residence, built in 1774, to the city of Montbéliard. The mansion has recently been restored, and it seems as if time has stood still in the refined atmosphere of a life lived by wealthy bourgeois, close to the court of the Dukes of Württemberg. Besides the first-floor reception rooms, which bear witness to the 18th-century bourgeoisie with portraits and furniture by the renowned Montbéliard cabinetmaker Abraham Nicolas Couleru, visitors will discover on the second floor the dual uniqueness of Montbéliard, both a German principality and a Protestant city , evoked through liturgical and domestic objects, as well as antique measuring instruments. In the attic, they can visit a curious collection of locally made music boxes , dating from 1840 to 1914.
