Montgeard Castle
Exceptional Chateaus & Castles
Our history
The Château de Montgeard was built by the Durand family, wealthy pastel merchants.
Its construction was completed by Guillaume Durand de Montgeard in 1555, who had acquired the seigneurial rights to Montgeard and finished the château.
The château was partially destroyed and dismantled in the 19th century. Reconstructed to its original unity, its restoration is currently underway and focuses on the vaulted cellars, the arcades, the mullioned windows, and the brick fireplaces.
