Our history

The grand red-brick fortress still proudly displays its keep. From this commanding position, Gaston Fébus (1331-1391), the most flamboyant of the Béarn princes, defended his sovereign state against English Gascony. Below the fortified walls stands the Church of Saint Michael, built at the same time as the castle (admirable collection of 15th and 16th-century frescoes: a visit is highly recommended).

Open daily in July and August from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. From April 1st to June 30th and from September 1st to November 2nd: every day except Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Entertainment and shows during the summer.
