Marigny-le-Cahouet Castle

This imposing fortified house, surrounded by a moat filled with running water, dates back to the 12th century, built upon the remains of an ancient Gallo-Roman villa. A testament to a long period of seigniorial occupation, three of its medieval towers still stand today, sturdy stone sentinels that have withstood the test of time. The fourth tower, destroyed or ruined, was replaced in the 15th century by an elegant L-shaped building, characteristic of late medieval residential architecture. In the following century, a half-timbered brick gallery was added to the façade, lending the whole a refined and welcoming Renaissance touch. This architectural dialogue between defensive austerity and domestic charm makes this residence a unique place, steeped in history and memory.
