Our history

Silk in Tours (Guided Tours by Appointment)
The Maison Le Manach represents the very essence of French style, a subtle blend of French tradition and exoticism. It draws its inspiration from silks of the Far East and Central Asia, from 18th-century printed cottons, and also from the Art Deco period and its ethnic motifs.

This silk fabric manufacturer was founded in 1829 by Eugène Fey and Charles Martin, who decided to establish a silk factory in Tours, in a former 18th-century coaching inn. They integrated all stages of fabric production into the workshop—spinning, weaving, dyeing—and produced brocades, damasks, and lampas that rivaled the finest Lyonnais fabrics.
Several partners succeeded one another at its helm during the 19th century. Georges Le Manach, whose name remains associated with the brand to this day, joined the company in 1906 and actively contributed to its development and renown.
After being run by the same family for five generations, Le Manach was acquired by Pierre Frey in 2014.
