Our history

The Maison Carrée, built in the 16th century by a wealthy cloth merchant, is a magnificent Renaissance-style mansion directly inspired by Florentine architecture. Its inner courtyard, Italianate loggias, and elegant sculptures make it a jewel of Béarn's heritage . Inside, a remarkable collection of regional furniture (from the 17th to the early 19th century) showcases the great local schools such as Morlaàs and Monein. A vibrant cultural hub, the Maison Carrée also offers temporary exhibitions and events throughout the year.
