Our history
Acquired by Jacques Cartier shortly before his third voyage to Canada (1541-1542), the manor of Limoëlou became his main residence, shared with his wife Catherine des Granches, to the detriment of their Malouin residence located on rue La Buhen (present-day rue de Chateaubriand).
Rented to farmers from the 19th century onwards, the manor was restored in 1984 with the support of the Macdonald Stewart Foundation and transformed into a museum. Faithfully restored to its original state, this residence pays tribute to the life and expeditions of the famous explorer from Saint-Malo.
