Lasserre Castle
Exceptional Chateaus & Castles
Our history
The Lasserre estate belonged, in 1241, to Sicard d'Alaman, second in command to the Count of Toulouse.
In the 16th century, Eleanor de Bernuy commissioned a reconstruction from the architect Bachelier, a student of Michelangelo, who designed the principal mansions and châteaux of the Toulouse Renaissance.
In 1570, the château was occupied by the army of the Protestant princes: Henry of Navarre (Henry IV), Condé, and Coligny.
In the 17th century, the southeast façade was transformed with its numerous windows. The château was spared during the French Revolution.
In the 19th and 20th centuries, it was owned by General de Castelnau, one of the great military leaders of the First World War, who resided at the château until his death in 1944, before passing into the hands of a descendant of the Count of Buffon.
