Our history

The Fortress of Largoët, also known as the Towers of Elven, is one of the jewels of medieval military architecture in Brittany. Built in the 14th and 15th centuries, it stands majestically in the heart of a wooded valley, a few kilometers from the road linking Vannes to Ploëmel. This strategic site, surrounded by a vast forest and bordered by the Kerbiler stream which feeds the moat of the pond, offers a natural setting that is as peaceful as it is impressive.

Largoët Castle boasts impressive monumental remains, including a 45-meter-high keep – one of the tallest in France – as well as several defensive structures that bear witness to the evolution of medieval military art. Steeped in history, the site notably hosted Henry Tudor, the future King Henry VII of England, in exile during the 15th century. A listed Historic Monument, this iconic Morbihan landmark fascinates history enthusiasts as well as lovers of heritage and enchanting landscapes.
