Our history

La Devinière, a 15th-century country house where François Rabelais was born, is located in Seuilly, in the heart of the Chinon vineyards. A key site in the Picrocholine Wars, the literary museum is dedicated to the author of Gargantua and Pantagruel.
A visit to the museum and its collections of portraits and antique books, the cellars (troglodytic dwellings), and the vine-filled gardens invites visitors to discover one of the most celebrated minds of French humanism.
