The Priory of La Jaillette

Founded by the knight Geoffroy Lostoir in the 12th century upon his return from the Crusades, the Abbey of La Jaillette initially housed six Augustinian monks before becoming the residence of a prior in the 17th century. Adjacent to a beautiful Romanesque church, the abbey is organized according to the pure Cistercian model, with its chapter house, dormitory, conventual buildings, and cloister. The entire complex, converted into a farm a century ago, has survived the centuries without ever having been restored. Its current owners fell in love with this historically rich place and decided to gradually renovate it, allowing it to return to its former glory.
