Our history
Located near the cathedral, the Hôtel Groslot was built between 1530 and 1550 by Jacques Androuet Du Cerceau for Jacques Groslot, the bailiff of Orléans. This building has a distinctive red brick façade laid in a diamond pattern. It consists of a central building flanked by two Renaissance-style wings.
It has served as the town hall since 1790. The interior was restored by the architect Delton in 1850. Today, visitors can see the Salon d'Honneur (Hall of Honor), the former Council Chamber, the former Mayor's office, and the wedding hall. Francis II, who came with his mother Catherine de Medici and his wife Mary Stuart to preside over the Estates General, died here in 1560. Charles IX, Henry III, and Henry IV were also among its illustrious guests.
