Our history
A beautiful architectural complex built by the renowned naturalist Buffon in 1768, author of the seminal work *Histoire naturelle*. The blast furnace is a veritable "theater of industry," with its wrought-iron balconies for visitors and the grand staircase leading to the reconstructed bellows, which are powered by a waterwheel driven by the Armançon River. This was the first integrated ironworks, encompassing all stages of iron production.
