Gombervaux Castle

Just 3.5 km northwest of Vaucouleurs , below the road leading to Commercy (D964) , the Gombervaux site is revealed in the hollow of a peaceful valley.

Formerly a strategic crossing point between Vaucouleurs and Void, it controlled the roads linking the villages of the castellany, such as Sauvoy , Ugny or Ourches . The site forms a defensive quadrilateral , surrounded by wide water-filled ditches , a testament to its former military role.

Alongside it, the farmyard , now transformed into a farm, completes this unusual and picturesque ensemble, nestled between dense forest and rapeseed fields , in a perfect balance between nature and medieval heritage .
