Our history

The imposing remains of a 12th and 13th-century fortress at Maupertuis were the scene of significant events in French history. It was here that John the Good was held captive after the Battle of Poitiers in 1356. Long besieged by the Duke of Berry, the fortress finally fell in 1375 to Bertrand du Guesclin. A powerful silhouette, steeped in history and bravery.
