Fort Saint Elme

Overlooking Collioure and Port-Vendres , Fort Saint-Elme is an iconic fortress on the Catalan coast. Built between 1538 and 1552 by Charles V in the shape of a star, it incorporates an old tower dating from the 9th century .

In the 17th century , Vauban transformed the fort, which then became a strategic stronghold in the conflicts between France and Spain, up until the Revolution.

Today, Fort Saint-Elme is a cultural site dedicated to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance , blending military heritage with spectacular views of the Mediterranean. A visit will immerse you in history while offering a special moment overlooking one of the most beautiful landscapes in Roussillon.
