A new journey into the heart of the mine awaits, revealing the astonishing story of the region's coal miners and 130 years of coal extraction in the heart of the Vendée and Deux-Sèvres countryside. Today, 60 years after the closure of the last mine in Faymoreau, the new Mining Centre Museum transports you back in time , taking you into the mine to tell the story of these men who descended into the bowels of the earth in search of coal, the true "black gold" of the era.
