Exceptional Chateaus & Castles

Our history

Built on a rocky spur to protect itself from the floods of the two rivers, the Isère and the Arly, Conflans sheltered, in the 14th century, within its walls, the fortified houses of powerful lords and later the homes of wealthy bourgeois.

A rich heritage to discover:

- The Château de Manuel de Locastel, an elegant 16th-century residence, boasts a magnificent painted ceiling in the French style and was the home of Joseph-François de Manuel de Locatel, the first mayor of the new town of Albertville, in 1836.

- The Museum of Art and History, which presents the life of the Savoyards at the beginning of the 20th century. Objects, tools, furniture, jewelry, and costumes... passed down through generations of families have been collected and displayed in this museum.

- The Savoy Gate: Entering Conflans through the Savoy Gate is like stepping into history. The streets and alleyways have remained the same as in the time of the Green Count, Amadeus VI, Count of Savoy.

- The Church of Saint-Grat: The pulpit, surmounted by graceful and laughing cherubs, is one of the finest examples of Alpine Baroque art.
