Our history

A fortress dating from the 12th and 14th centuries, Chazeron was transformed in the 18th century into a residence for the Sun King.
From the Romanesque armory to the kitchens and wood-paneled drawing room, the centuries mingle, interact, and bring to life a monument of unparalleled grandeur. A state prison in 1940, then looted and dismantled, the castle has been undergoing restoration since 1965. Overlooking the Limagne plain, Chazeron is located in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, nestled on the foothills of the Combrailles mountains, offering a breathtaking panoramic view.
