Dinan Castle

Dinan Castle comprises the keep (14th century) and the Coëtquen Tower (15th century). The complex houses the centerpiece of the medieval fortifications surrounding the town, and Dinan Castle is at the heart of an ambitious project highlighting the remarkable architecture of this princely residence. The structure brings together three elements in the 16th century: the Ducal Tower, built in the 1380s and rivaling the royal Château de Vincennes; the Coëtquen Tower, erected at the end of the 15th century; and the wicket gate (13th century). While the Coëtquen Tower offers a fine example of the defensive structures that characterized the late Middle Ages, the Ducal Tower invites visitors to immerse themselves in the daily life and lifestyle at the court of the Dukes of Brittany. Not to be missed are the impressive kitchens, the exceptional banquet hall lit by beautiful mullioned windows, the walkway and the panoramic view from the terrace.
