Our history
Donjon roman du XIe siècle, agrandi au XIIIe siècle, Château Guillaume a été fondé par Guillaume X, comte de Poitou, duc d'Aquitaine, père d'Aliénor, qui y serait peut-être née. Il a appartenu du XIIIe au XVIe siècle à la Maison de La Trémoille, puis, entre autres, aux familles Gouffier, Chabot, La Faire.
Démantelé sous Richelieu, il a été restauré en 1878 par la comtesse de Beauchamp, née Lanet.
