Champchevrier Castle

Nestled in the heart of a vast forest estate, away from major roads yet at the center of an age-old way of life, the tradition of hunting with hounds remains more alive than ever here. The Château de Champchevrier, a hidden gem of the Loire Valley, is distinguished by its elegant architecture, harmoniously blending Renaissance and 18th-century styles in a rare and majestic balance. This private residence, still inhabited, has belonged to the same family since 1728, a lineage that has passionately preserved the authentic and refined character of the place, while imbuing it with a warm and vibrant spirit.

From the moment they enter, visitors are enveloped by the timeless beauty of the site: light-filled tufa stone facades, orderly vistas of the surrounding countryside, and wooded avenues rustling with memories of hunts. For here, hunting with hounds is not a relic, but a tradition proudly perpetuated, illustrated by a rare collection of objects, costumes, and memorabilia evoking this demanding and codified art. Inside the château, the richly furnished salons reflect the refined taste of its inhabitants: carved woodwork, family portraits, Aubusson tapestries, precious porcelain, and historical mementos mingle in a hushed atmosphere, evoking the centuries of history lived within these walls.

Visiting Champchevrier is to immerse oneself in a preserved aristocratic intimacy, far from the usual tourist routes. It is also to feel, through stories passed down from generation to generation, the unwavering attachment of a family to its estate, its traditions, and its history. A unique place, vibrant with authenticity and elegance, where past and present resonate in rare harmony.
